“My immediate thoughts upon playing Jason Kostal's work for the first time were 'That's it, I'm home...'. Jason's guitars are exquisitely built with an attention to detail and dedication to impeccable woodcraft that is unmatched. The depth of sound, power and immediate response of a Kostal instrument are exactly what I had been searching for and have inspired me on stage, in the studio and as a compositional tool.”

"I took delivery of my first Kostal guitar in March of 2017.  The instrument immediately opened up new vistas in my playing and inspired me to reimagine both how I perform live and approach the creative process of writing new music. Having worked with many luthiers through the years, I have come to understand that each hand-made instrument reveals the summation of the builder’s journey in understanding and applying material science, human engineering, and sculpting tone woods into living instruments of creative expression.  Jason Kostal’s uncompromising quest for tonal balance, intonation and playability is immediately obvious when you pick up one of his guitars. His guitars are also staggeringly beautiful in fit, finish and detail. As a full-time touring player, I need the guitar to reward the physical effort of playing, inspire me when I am away from it and, in effect, push me to reach higher and expect more from myself.   My Kostal does that for me. After almost three decades on the road, this instrument makes me feel like that excited and obsessed 12-year old kid once again."

“Jason, you really need to know you hit it out of the park with this guitar!!!!! No matter how good a guitar is you usually have to accommodate some small compromise in either range, depth, playability, a note on the 17th fret or whatever. I stayed up most of the night playing the guitar. I really didn’t know what to expect with the MDW model. The only thing I knew for sure was that your self-driven, relentless pursuit of perfection would turn up something special! This guitar is beyond my wildest dreams. It’s already transforming my right hand to explore a ton of textures and approaches to contacting the strings. This is the perfect guitar for me personally!!!! It has had a life changing impact in just 24 hours. I have been playing plugged in a lot which is a different beast. This guitar has insisted that I get back to the subtleties and nuance of fine playing that requires one to listen to guitar. Also, there are very few guitars that compel and demand the player meet the instrument half way in its world. Most of the time players are just trying to dominate their environment, which includes the instrument. I think (Micheal) Watts does a good job of having that symbiotic relationship between instrument, player, and sound. I needed an instrument that would pave the way to the next level and you delivered it. This guitar is everything I could possibly imagine both sonically and in playability!! Congratulations for creating something incredibly special!! Really grateful Jason! Thanks, John”

“Jason, I’m going to write to you / or call again when my thoughts are a bit more composed... but I just had to let you know a few things. I am aware of your incredible gifts and skills as an artist- your instruments are nothing short of the best in the world... so it was no surprise that this guitar was built to the absolute highest level achievable. The sound is incredible- and I love it just as it is... what is mind boggling, is that it quite likely will get better! To me, that is beyond comprehension- but it reaffirms that this is the finest instrument I’ve ever played. What astounds me is the personal details that you satisfied. I know we spoke about the type of neck I like- but it is as if you measured my hand, and every great guitar neck that I’ve played, and rolled them all into this one, incredible instrument! It feels a part of me, it is less an instrument- and more a part of my music making entity. You provided me the ideal voice, and extension that allows music to flow as freely through me as possible. It provides a conduit to channel ideas, and expression without impediment. I’m simply speechless, and could never express thanks enough for all you’ve done. Quite simply- I’m overwhelmed!

The MD has really settled in for me, and I simply cannot stop playing it! This guitar is better than anything I could have ever hoped for... I love it! Honestly, it will be at my side the remainder of days that the Good Lord allows me to take breath- and then it will probably be my daughter’s favorite remembrance of her old man... You’ve given my family a truly beautiful gift- thank you! Sincerest respect, Frank”
